The Matrice 400 is DJI's enterprise flagship drone platform. It pairs a 59-minute flight time with a 6 kg payload capacity and integrated rotating LiDAR plus mmWave radar for obstacle sensing capable of detecting individual power lines. It supports O4 Enterprise Enhanced Video Transmission and Airborne Relay Video Transmission, and combines Smart Detection with visible and thermal imaging, AR projection, ship-based takeoff and landing, and advanced automation. The Matrice 400 is the right choice when the mission demands the most capable enterprise drone DJI builds. Heavy lift, long endurance, multi-payload flexibility, and obstacle sensing accurate enough to fly through transmission line corridors. If you need a Zenmuse L3 for long-range LiDAR, the M400 is the only platform that supports it.
For mapping-only missions in compact form, look at the Matrice 4D. For thermal inspection without the M400's payload requirements, look at the Matrice 4T. For the broadest mission flexibility on a single airframe, the M400 is the answer.
Long-Range, High-Accuracy Aerial LiDAR for the Matrice 400
The Zenmuse L3 is DJI's first long-range, high-accuracy aerial LiDAR system. Compatible only with the Matrice 400, the L3 pairs a 1535 nm Class 1 eye-safe laser with dual 100 MP Micro 4/3 CMOS cameras, delivering survey-grade point cloud and imagery for mapping, inspection, and reality capture work that demands centimeter-level accuracy across long ranges.
What Matters Most
See farther than any DJI LiDAR before it. Detection range up to 3,117 ft (950 m) at 10% reflectivity, 6,562 ft (2,000 m) at 80% reflectivity. The L3's longer range and tighter beam divergence make it the right tool for tall structures, deep open-pit mines, and large-area corridor mapping.
Capture more area in less time. Up to 10 km² per flight and 100 km² per day when paired with the Matrice 400. Scale the L3 to large surveying jobs without burning through batteries on overlap passes.
Tighter beam, tighter point cloud. Beam divergence of 0.25 mrad produces a laser footprint roughly one-fifth the diameter of the L2 at the same range. Cleaner point clouds, sharper features, better classification.
Survey-grade accuracy. Vertical accuracy of 3 cm at 400 ft AGL, 5 cm at 985 ft AGL, and 10 cm at 1,640 ft AGL. Dual 100 MP Micro 4/3 cameras deliver 0.5-inch GSD at 400 ft for orthomosaic generation.

The Zenmuse L3 is what you choose when the L2 isn't enough. Specifically, when project scope demands longer range, tighter accuracy at altitude, or coverage you can't get out of an L2 mission profile in a reasonable timeframe.
For surveying and mapping firms moving to higher-volume, higher-accuracy work, including large open pits, long power line corridors, and regional topographic mapping, the L3 plus M400 combination is the DJI ecosystem's most capable answer. For shorter-range mapping or smaller jobs, the L2 on a Matrice 350 or 4D may be the more economical fit.
Pair the L3 with a D-RTK 3 base station for full survey-grade workflows with PPK or RTK in DJI Terra.

The TB100 is the only battery option for the Matrice 400. There is no alternative or third-party battery for this airframe. Most M400 operators carry at least three TB100 batteries plus a BS100 station to support continuous mission operations:

Battery 3 as a backup or already cycled
For high-frequency operations like daily public safety patrols or multi-day mapping campaigns, plan for 4 to 6 TB100s plus a BS100. For ad-hoc flights, 2 to 3 batteries is typically sufficient.
The TB100C tethered battery is a separate purchase for use cases requiring sustained aerial coverage (lighting, communications, overwatch) beyond standard battery flight time.
Intelligent Battery Charging Station for Matrice 400
The BS100 Intelligent Battery Station is the multi-battery charging hub for the DJI Matrice 400 platform. Charges up to three TB100 flight batteries plus two WB37 controller batteries in cycle, with 45-minute fast charge per TB100. The BS100 keeps M400 operations running continuously through extended missions, multi-day campaigns, or daily operational duty cycles.

Cycle three flight batteries plus two controller batteries. A single station handles a full M400 operations kit. Charges TB100 flight batteries in sequence from highest to lowest charge level, plus simultaneous WB37 charging for the RC Plus 2 controller.
